Escaped slave, Navy veteran, Distinguished Dedhamite
We are a group of Dedhamites and friends of William B. Gould from around the country and around the world.
In the summer of 2020, as statues around the country were toppled, we came together to build up our community by preserving the memory of a worthy Dedhamite. The effort has expanded to not only build a statue, but to rename a public park in his honor and to teach his story in the Dedham Public Schools.
To honor the memory and tell the story of a remarkable man who overcame overwhelming odds, served in the United States Navy with honor, and served as a civic leader for decades in Dedham.
Your generous tax-deductible donation will help us to teach Gould's story to generations of Dedham students, rename the East Dedham Passive Park in his honor, and erect a statue to preserve his memory.
